We are seeking a highly motivated and proactive Technician to provide hands-on support to consultants, instructors, and community members at MAKE's. The role focuses on assisting with daily operations, equipment setup, maintenance, and ensuring smooth running during educational programs and makerspace activities. The Technician will contribute to a dynamic environment by maintaining an organized workspace, offering basic technical assistance, and ensuring compliance with safety and maintenance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Operation:

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment and ensure the cleanliness and organization of facilities and workspaces.
• Complete daily shift checklists and end-of-shift reports.
• Conduct preventative maintenance on tools and systems to ensure optimal functionality.
• Replace or repair defective components and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Assist with setting up and preparing workspaces for daily activities.
• Support the preparation of woodshop and metalshop areas for instructors.
• Report equipment or facility issues to appropriate staff members.
• Provide troubleshooting assistance for minor equipment or technical issues.
• Ensure safety protocols and maintenance standards are followed.

Education Programs:

• Support the execution and delivery of various educational programs, including workshops, training sessions, events, and camps.
• Assist instructors and consultants with setting up materials for educational programs.
• Provide hands-on support during sessions by organizing supplies, helping with tools, and adjusting setups as needed.
• Ensure equipment is ready for use and help with post-session cleanup and organization

Community Engagement:

• Assist members, users, and guests with general inquiries about tools, workspace rules, and programs.
• Promote a welcoming and safe environment by supporting the enforcement of MAKE rules and policies.
• Guide community members in the proper use of tools and equipment.

Services:

• Assist in consulting, training, prototyping, and production services.
• Support in-house product design and production under supervision.
• Provide technical assistance to team members and users when requested.
• Help with makerspace setup and adjustments.

Other Duties:

• Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Direct Manager.

Qualifications:

• Minimum ITI / High School Diploma / Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Relevant experience in a technical or manufacturing industry is preferred.

Experience:

• Experience using basic hand tools and power tools is required.

• A minimum of one year of experience in a technical or manufacturing environment.

Skills and Knowledge:

• Experience with design software, 3D printing, woodworking and metalworking machines, welding, and CNC machining (G Code, M Code, tool path) is highly desired.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
• Strong interpersonal skills for effective interaction with co-workers and community members.
• Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work in various environments, including standing, bending, or lifting for extended periods.
