421 is seeking a creative, highly organized, and community-minded Programs Coordinator to lead and support the development and execution of its vibrant public programs. This dynamic role is central to how 421 connects with its audiences and creative communities, supporting a year round calendar that includes seasonal initiatives, film screenings, exhibition openings, and large-scale cultural events.
The ideal candidate will be both creative and detail-oriented, with strong initiative, excellent project management skills, and the ability to collaborate across teams and with a wide range of partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning and development of seasonal public programs inspired by current exhibitions and curatorial themes
- Coordinate cornerstone and year-round programs in partnership with artists, cultural practitioners, and community collaborators
- Manage timelines and critical paths for all public programs to ensure timely and efficient delivery
- Collaborate with the Communications team to align on content, deadlines, and outreach strategies
- Oversee the full administrative cycle of public programs, including:
- Drafting and managing contracts and schedules
- Submitting and tracking DCT event license applications
- Briefing internal departments (communications, operations, etc.)
- Leading pre-event briefings and post-event debriefings
- Collecting and analyzing audience feedback for evaluation and reporting.
- Manage external vendors and collaborators, including translators/interpreters, ushers, hospitality teams, and others.
- Provide on-site support for the smooth execution of programs and events.
- Lead exhibition tours and facilitate public engagement with ongoing exhibitions.
- Actively contribute ideas and proposals to improve programming, workflows, and community engagement strategies.
- Support additional initiatives under 421’s programming umbrella, such as Dukkan421.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Arts, Culture, Humanities, or a related field.
- 3–4 years of experience in cultural programming, public events, or community engagement.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills.
- Strong communication skills in both Arabic and English (spoken and written).
- UAE Nationals will be given priority consideration
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders under tight deadlines.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
- Passion for contemporary art, culture, and community-oriented initiatives
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in the UAE’s cultural sector
- Familiarity with event production and vendor coordination
