This career opportunity is ideal for a reliable and safety-conscious professional with a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) licence, seeking to play a key role in the daily operations of a dynamic warehouse environment. As a Driver with a heavy vehicle licence providing crucial support to warehouse logistics and teamwork.
Key Duties and Responsibilities – Warehouse Driver (Heavy Licence)
- Safely drive and operate heavy vehicles, loading and transporting goods between the warehouse and delivery destinations as directed.
- Complete accurate delivery and collection documentation
- Maintain a clean and organised vehicle, reporting any maintenance needs or faults promptly.
- Participate in general warehouse duties where required, including stock movement, palletising, and assisting colleagues to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Represent the company positively to clients, suppliers, and colleagues through professional, courteous behaviour and communication.
Warehouse Driver Safety, Vehicle Compliance & Regulatory Adherence
- Comply at all times with company safety policies, manual handling procedures, and all road transport laws and regulations.
- Carry out daily vehicle safety checks, reporting and resolving issues to maintain roadworthiness and legal compliance.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow health and safety protocols in the warehouse and while on the road.
- Ensure the correct and secure loading of goods to minimise damage and support safe transit.
- Take proactive measures to prevent accidents, hazards, or delays during loading, unloading, or transit.
Professional Qualities & Experience – Heavy Licence Warehouse Driver Profile
- Extensive experience operating HGVs or vehicles requiring a heavy goods licence, preferably within a distribution, warehouse, or logistics environment.
- Valid, clean driving licence (Class 2/C or above, as required), with up-to-date CPC and tacho card where applicable.
- Demonstrated expertise in safe driving practices, route planning, and cargo securing techniques.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with warehouse teams to achieve daily targets.
- Excellent time management and problem-solving capabilities, with attention to detail in record keeping and delivery documentation.
- Strong communication skills and a respectful, inclusive approach to working with colleagues and external partners of all backgrounds.
- Physical fitness to carry out manual handling, loading, and unloading tasks in line with health and safety guidelines.
