About the role
We are seeking a reliable and detail‑focused laundry attendant to join our household team. The successful candidate will ensure all laundry, linen and wardrobe items are cleaned, cared for and presented to the highest standards. You will work closely with housekeeping and household management to maintain accurate records, manage inventory and support the smooth running of laundry operations while respecting privacy and confidentiality.
Key responsibilities
Receive, sort and process laundry and linens according to fabric type, care labels and household procedures.
Operate washing, drying and ironing equipment safely and effectively, including steam presses and specialist machines where required.
Handle delicate, bespoke and high‑value garments using appropriate cleaning methods and liaise with external specialist cleaners when necessary.
Ensure excellent presentation of laundered items: folding, steaming, ironing and preparing garments and linens for storage or use.
Maintain accurate laundry logs, inventory records and tracking for personal clothing, household linens and serviceable items.
Manage cleaning supplies and laundry consumables, reporting shortages and ensuring correct storage of chemicals in line with COSHH guidance.
Report any garment damage, stains or maintenance issues to household management and follow agreed escalation procedures.
Keep laundry and wardrobe areas clean, organised and compliant with health & safety standards.
Support household events and ad‑hoc requirements, providing timely turnaround of required items.
Qualification & experience
Minimum1 year experience in professional laundry, dry cleaning, housekeeping or similar environment; private household or luxury hospitality experience desirable.
Practical knowledge of fabric care, stain removal techniques and garment finishing.
Experience using washing machines, tumble dryers, irons, steamers and pressing equipment; training in specialist machinery is advantageous.
Basic record‑keeping skills and attention to detail to manage inventories and laundry logs.
Awareness of COSHH and safe handling of cleaning chemicals; formal training is desirable but not essential.
Good communication skills, punctuality and the ability to follow instructions and household procedures.
