Job Summary
The Housekeeping Attendant will maintain the cleanliness, order and presentation of a private household, ensuring all areas are kept to high standards of hygiene and discretion. This role carries out daily cleaning, laundry and simple household tasks, supporting the household team to deliver a welcoming, comfortable and well‑organised environment.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake routine cleaning duties across bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, living areas and service zones, including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, polishing and sanitising surfaces.
Make and change beds, ensure bedrooms are tidy and presented to household standards, and attend to turn‑down or guest preparation as required.
Manage laundry tasks: sorting, washing, drying, ironing, folding and storing linens and clothing following care labels and household procedures.
Clean and maintain kitchen and bathroom areas, including removal of waste, replenishment of amenities and ensuring hygiene standards are observed.
Maintain inventories of cleaning supplies, toiletries and linens; report low stock and assist with receipt and proper storage of deliveries.
Report maintenance issues, breakages or safety concerns to senior staff and assist with minor remedial tasks when appropriate.
Handle household items, clothing and personal effects with care and discretion; respect confidentiality and the privacy of the family at all times.
Support events, family gatherings or guest stays by preparing rooms, replenishing supplies and providing additional cleaning support as required.
Follow household procedures for waste segregation and disposal, including recycling and the safe handling of hazardous materials in line with instructions.
Occasionally assist with light errands, grocery unpacking or pantry organisation when requested by senior household staff.
Requirements
Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience in private households, hospitality or similar environments is preferred.
Strong attention to detail, a high standard of cleanliness and the ability to follow instructions and household standards consistently.
Reliable, punctual and trustworthy with a discreet and professional manner when working in a private home.
Good communication skills and the ability to take direction while using initiative to resolve routine issues.
Flexible approach to working hours including willingness to cover early mornings, evenings or occasional weekends as required.
Physically able to perform cleaning duties which may include standing, bending and lifting moderate loads for extended periods.
