Key Responsibilities
Plan, deliver, and supervise safe, engaging, and effective sports training sessions in accordance with programme objectives and company standards.
Assess participant fitness levels, sporting ability, movement quality, goals, and training needs to develop suitable individual and group programmes.
Provide clear demonstrations, instructions, coaching cues, feedback, encouragement, and motivation throughout each training session.
Adapt exercises, drills, activities, intensity, and training methods to accommodate different abilities, experience levels, fitness goals, and physical limitations.
Deliver sports conditioning, strength and conditioning, mobility, flexibility, cardiovascular, agility, coordination, and performance training as required.
Monitor participant performance, technique, attendance, progress, wellbeing, and response to training, maintaining accurate records where required.
Maintain a professional, inclusive, supportive, and motivating training environment that promotes confidence, participation, health, and wellbeing.
Ensure participants use appropriate techniques, equipment, clothing, footwear, and safety procedures during all activities.
Inspect sports facilities, training areas, equipment, and supplies before and after sessions, reporting damage, defects, hazards, or maintenance requirements without delay.
Set up, store, clean, and maintain sports equipment, training aids, facilities, and work areas in a safe, organised, and presentable condition.
Recognise signs of injury, illness, fatigue, overtraining, or distress and respond appropriately in accordance with company procedures and relevant first aid guidance.
Complete warm-ups, cool-downs, stretching, recovery activities, and injury prevention exercises appropriate to each session.
Communicate professionally with participants, colleagues, managers, parents or guardians where applicable, and other relevant stakeholders.
Protect participant privacy and handle personal, health, and performance information with confidentiality, care, and discretion.
Comply with health and safety, safeguarding, equality, emergency response, incident reporting, risk assessment, and professional conduct procedures.
Support sports events, assessments, competitions, promotional activities, group programmes, and other operational requirements as directed.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Direct Manager.
Requirements
Previous experience as a Sports Trainer, Personal Trainer, Fitness Instructor, Sports Coach, Athletic Trainer, Exercise Specialist, or in a similar role is preferred.
Relevant qualification in sports coaching, personal training, sports science, exercise physiology, physical education, fitness, or a related discipline is an advantage.
Knowledge of sports training principles, exercise programming, fitness assessment, warm-up and cool-down methods, conditioning, injury prevention, and performance development.
Current first aid, CPR, safeguarding, health and safety, or equivalent certification is preferred.
Ability to plan and deliver structured individual and group training sessions for participants with varying abilities and objectives.
Strong communication, coaching, interpersonal, motivational, organisational, and time management skills.
Ability to demonstrate exercises clearly, provide constructive feedback, and maintain participant engagement throughout each session.
Strong understanding of safe exercise technique, equipment use, risk management, safeguarding, and participant wellbeing.
Professional, approachable, reliable, patient, encouraging, and respectful at all times.
Physically able to demonstrate exercises, participate in practical activities, stand, walk, bend, reach, lift, and handle sports equipment for extended periods.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively, follow instructions, maintain accurate records, and meet scheduled training commitments.
Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, public holidays, and special events when required by business operations.
